Your Scuba Diving Regulator for your Breathing Equipment

Breathing underwater is the first impression of what scuba diver first to feel and was made as a remarkable experience. To be related to these tools, we call it as scuba diving regulator, as the main function of this tool is to deliver air from the scuba cylinder as you're breathing gas.

As a diver, this is the equipment that must be known. Scuba diving regulator is a pressure regulator used in scuba. This equipment has the function that reduces of breathing pressurized gas into ambient pressure and distribute it to the divers. Gas flows from the diving cylinder pass through diving regulator carried out by divers. A gas pressure regulator having one or more valves that relieve pressure from the source, pass through use downstream pressure as feedback to control the pressure delivered, lowering the pressure in each stage. So the diver can breathe with low pressure already.

Scuba Diving Regulator consists of some of the main important parts;

1. First stage : this is the part that is attached directly to the cylinder. its function to reduce ambient pressure cylinder into intermediate pressure 

2. Second stage / primary regulator : this section we refer to as mouthpiece, where the pressure is generated has become breathable pressure. the gas flow from your scuba cylinder passes by your first stage regulator through your second stage regulator.

3. Octopus / Secondary / alternative stage : has the function with your primary regulator, but this one is your up. you may use this for helping your buddy in a case out of out of the air.

3. Relieve Pressure Valve : if there is a failure in the first stage, the valve will be over-pressurized and become free-flow or can be called fail safe when over-pressurization. you need not fear because the air remains flowing and would not stop so it will keep you breathing.

4. Submersible pressure gauge (SPG) : with this SPG you will know how much air remains in your cylinder. Now this is usually already present new, more complete models with mixed parts which dive depth gauge and your compass in one handy component. some other is attached with dive computer and transmitter

5. Low-Pressure Inflator Houses : this houses connected from your first stages to your BCD (Buoyancy Compensator Devices) to deliver air so you can adjust your buoyancy while you go deeper and need more air to add up the air into your BCD

There are many types and different model of scuba diving regulator in the market now, as you are will be confusing to choose what model is good one for you.The things to consider when you are choosing your regulator, firstly you have to know the type and model then after that you will know what type of regulator that suited to you.

1. Diaphragm or Piston Regulator : mostly piston first stage regulator are more expensive than diaphragm model, because the part of piston regulator build up with less moving part. but it doesn't mean diaphragm model is not good! both types of them are good! 

2. Balance or Unbalanced : Balanced scuba regulator means has a consistent air flow even your air in your cylinder remains low. and also still flow consistent at any depth you are. The unbalanced regulator is the opposite from Balanced regulator. normally unbalanced regulator cheaper than balanced regulator but this regulator is easier and lower cost for maintenance. Most dive center or diving school and dive resort provide this kind of regulator as their equipment .

Another thing that you should consider for your scuba diving regulator is DIN or YOKE valve. What are the differences between DIN and Yoke ?

Regulator with DIN adapter : it stands for Deutsche Industrie Norm. this type of reg can be called screw in, which means the first stage of your regulator screws into the valve. And it uses captured o-ring that is behind the regulator post, eliminate the possibility o-ring may repel and lead to losing gas. DIN regulator commonly uses by Technical Divers. 

YOKE adapter : Most common regulator type  which mostly you can see in the diving industry especially for recreational divers, where the o-ring seals located right in front of the valve.

Some tips choosing regulator that suited to your dive environment and your typical dive : buying the expensive one may be good, but its doesn't mean the best. you don't need the regs that have the capability to dive deeper than 40 Meters for recreational diver who are doing a dive not deeper than 30 Meters. so buy the one fits your type and of course, it must fit your budget since scuba diving regulator not cheap.

at last, choosing your scuba diving regulator is about how you comfort when you go diving and feel more relaxed while you're underwater. Become a recreational diver is not as difficult deep-sea divers or technical divers are more complicated in terms of choosing equipment diving equipment.
